framewave.jpgAMD just announced that their AMD Performance Library is now available to the open-source community. The APL is a set of common routines used in popular software. When implemented, the APL is designed to hasten application development, debugging, and optimization for x86 CPUs.  AMD is dropping the proprietary library in favor of the new open-source offshoot called Framewave.

Red Hat is looking to make some waves in the IT world by hitting one billion USD in revenue this year. It could be a reasonable goal, seeing as how it is outrageously popular.
