Comparisons between the 9600 and the 8800GT cards leave much to be desired. However, the numbers prove that there is no comparison between the performance of the 8600GT and the soon to come 9600GT. In fact, the performance is close to double that of the 8600GTS.

The guys over at PConline.com.cn have posted these benchmark results:

Here is a look at this table of data from Chinese group ExPreview. It shows their results in different benchmarks of the 9600GT pitted against the lesser known 8800GS and 8800GT already available.

Here is a set of benchmarks by the team over at techpowerup.com. It reveals the SLi capabilities of the 9600GT vs. single 9600GT vs 8800Ultra.

Pictures are worth a thousand words. Not bad for 150USD worth of video card, but for 169USD? 189USD? The decision falls squarely on the shoulders of the consumers to decide. Looking at what is currently on the table; it is difficult to say whether the price tag will fit the footprint of the newest NVIDIA offering for the midrange market. There is definitely promise. Hopefully there will be no more delays.
