Event Horizon - Linux [02.04.08]
Written by Justin Ohl

horizon.jpgCray, our favorite Supercomputing Madmen, have decided to start reselling their infamous Moab Clustering Suite. Cluster Resources, Inc. are the guys to thank, and it looks like clustering might just be the next big step.

There are efforts underway to cover Open-Source OS/2. Good luck on getting IBM to release that source-code, they will hold onto that with their cold dead fingers.

Microsoft is a huge bastion of scary lawyers and programmers, they say, but Linus, our hero, has called the software giant. He is laying down his cards, and all bets are off. He thinks they are bluffing with their patent threats. This could get interesting.

NVIDIA has released their latest driver set for Linux: Phoronix are the guys to ask about them. In addition, everyone has been saying NVIDIA is purchasing Ageia.

Lastly, the newest version of Gimp: 2.4.4 is released to the drooling masses. These folks have always put out a quality, Open-Sourced product. Grab it, and get back to GIMPing. Happy hacking.

Super Bowl XLII Commercials
Written by Chris Hunter

superbowlxlii.jpgFor those looking to watch tomorrow’s football game for one reason only, there is a sneak peak available. Wi-Fi-TV has the commercials in tomorrow’s Super Bowl XLII. The videos are lower quality, but they can be maximized through the Windows Media web player. Just double click on the video and enjoy. We always love trying to guess what the actual product is they are selling. In addition, it looks like the famous GoDaddy girl commercials are back as well.

Windows is on the run, there is much rejoicing. Happy Groundhog's day, and enjoy our Six More Weeks of Winter.

First, KDE is making a mess of the competition by making waves in their KDE for Windows project. Just think: your favorite KDE apps are coming to live on Windows.

Second, Linux now has better compatibility than Windows Vista does for its programs.

For those businesses out there, Open Source is really changing things and shaking the market up. What most people used to think was just a start-up company's bread-and-butter for cutting costs, is now saving everyone and their dog. Some people are even willing to call it "mainstream."

Want another distribution to try? Take a gander at the latest masterpiece that lauds exactly what every Linux start-up does: Easy for everyone to use. Let us hope so, Ulteo.

Lastly, for those music fans that have a nice mp3 player that shows album art, but just never got any: fret not. Open-Source has a cure, and it can be found here for Linux and Windows. Yay
